Our Story

Sixteen Years Roofing Local Properties Properly.

Orchard Roofs was founded on the conviction that local climates demand location-specific practice — not national specs with a local area code.

Why a Building
Science Specialist
Started a Roofing
Company.

Marcus Hale spent eleven years as a building envelope consultant — the professional category hired after a building fails to diagnose what went wrong. Roof leaks, wall moisture intrusion, ice dam damage, premature membrane failure. He reviewed the engineering behind these failures every week for over a decade across the region.

The pattern was consistent: national spec templates applied without adjustment for local conditions. Biological growth management omitted because it wasn't a warranty issue. Structural considerations addressed where applicable. Drainage adequate for average rainfall may not be sufficient for storm events. Materials specified for long-term performance in sustained moisture exposure.

Orchard Roofs was founded in 2009 to do it correctly from the start. Every specification reflects the actual conditions of the service area. Every proposal explains the engineering rationale behind the material choices. Every project includes biological-growth mitigation, drainage design, and structural considerations that national contractors omit as optional services.

How We Operate

Five Non-Negotiables.
Every Project.

01
Written Proposals with Engineering Rationale

Every proposal includes product data sheets, system specification, and the explanation for each material choice. You understand what's going on your roof and why before signing anything.

02
Employee Crews, No Exceptions

All installation is performed by Orchard Roofs employees. Not subcontractors hired for the season. The people installing your roof are accountable to Orchard Roofs standards year-round.

03
Seismic Review for Heavy Materials

Tile and slate on older wood-frame buildings may require a licensed PE seismic or structural review. This is a standard inclusion at Orchard Roofs where applicable — not an optional add-on.

04
Oregon-Specific Engineering

Local rainfall, biological growth patterns, and structural context are built into every specification. We don't adapt national templates — we write specs for local conditions from the start.

05
Honest Repair vs. Replace Advice

We tell you when repair is the right answer and document the 5-year horizon when replacement becomes more economical. We make more from replacement. We recommend repair when it's genuinely appropriate.
